Job Description For Barclays Off Campus Recruitment Drive 2023:
Role of Platform function to support delivery of change –
Define and implement a world class Engineering Framework that drives consistency on delivery approach across all platforms.
- Setting architecture vision and establishing technical product roadmaps
- Utilizing knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices to inform solution design and for software development
- Providing technical leadership through translating business requirements into solution design & development
- Promoting continuous process improvement in development practices, code quality, testability & reliability
- Surface engineering / technology / infra issues with CIO and other technology support functions and activity manage risk profile with technology and engineering for the platform
- Participate and value add in demands review, impact assessment, elaboration & prioritization with Product owners
- Providing technical oversight of vendor engagement to ensure solutions meet high quality, performance and reliability standards to guarantee seamless client experience and live service stability
- Delivering on critical business priorities while evolving platform towards its strategic vision
- Creating and managing relevant application documentation
- Lead and contribute to retrospectives and lessons learnt in the development process
- Report platform team’s status with regards to productivity (Blue Optima), quality (Engineering metrics) and speed of change. Identify improvement opportunities and work with engineering leads to implement
- Ensure design and architecture meet program goals
- Drive engineering best practices including focus on test automation, resilience by design, in depth security, CI/CD and improve stability
- Manage and resolve engineering issues / roadblocks with regards to delivery
- Plan and Execute Engineering workforce transformation per organization/business unit objectives & goals
- People management including engagement, career development, performance, pay decisions, team dynamics
- Be a mentor and role model for other software engineers
- Strong leadership skills with evidence of managing large teams across a range of disciplines and locations
- Fully up to date with developments in individual area of expertise and will be expected to keep abreast of emerging technologies and potential for application within the Bank
- Ability to negotiate and solicit engagement at all levels of the organisation, and strong experience of working with senior stakeholders
- Employ agile techniques such as task estimation, test automation, deployment automation and continuous integration to enhance overall execution speed and product quality

B. E, MCA or equivalent
Banking and Cards domain knowledge
Self-motivated, passionate, well organized individual with demonstrated problem solving skills
Good knowledge on Agile ways of working
Excellent communication skills – verbal & written Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage upwards and downwards, working closely with senior and junior stakeholders
Knowledge of DevOps practices, tooling and automation: Chef, Jenkins
Conceptual awareness on API integration
Awareness of Infrastructure components such as Middleware products (MQ, CD, Kafka, data encryption, data isolation) from application integration & control point of view
